There are two airports in Istanbul. "Istanbul airport" and "Sabiha Gokcen" airport.

Istanbul Airport is located on Europe side and has been completed and opened at Sept 2018 as one of the biggest hub airports in world . It is mostly used for International flights and premier airlines . Because of its massive size , taxi during landing and take of can take 15-20 mins and walking in the terminal can take longer and be painful.

"Sabiha Gokcen"is located on Asia side and small compared to "Istanbul Airport". It mostly used for domestic flights and charter flights. It really takes less time to travel within airport.

I usually pick Sabiha Gokcen as travelling there and total time spend in airport is less then Istanbul Airport.

We have two security checks when entering airports first one at the airport enterence doors and second one after passport control.

Sorry to say that but airports in Turkey is famous with extremely high food and beverage prices.

If possible avoid eating at even fast food chains as a BigMac there may cost up to 5-6 time more. If you choose a more  elegant restaurant it may charge up to 50€ per person for a main course and fizzy drink .

However if you have to, check prices. Starbucks is usually double the price but you can get coffee and sandwich.

Cheapest are vending machines where you can buy soft drinks or snacks.
