Turkish Baklava is absolutely will take you to heaven in first bite . Baklava is made by layering very 40 very thin sheets of phyllo dough with melted butter and a filling of finely chopped pistachios ,nuts or walnuts. The layers are carefully assembled in a baking tray, cut into diamond or square shapes, and baked until golden and crisp. Once baked, hot sugar syrup poured over the baklava, allowing it to soak in and become sweet and glossy.
What to try ?
Traditional one is one with pistaschio but now there are more then 10 different types (cold, hot , nuts,walnuts,etc..)
You can ask for a taste plate or mixed plate.
It is a heavy desert usually 4 traditional pieces (rectangular or diamond shaped) are one portion.
Order a non sweet drink like çay (tea) or water as it is sugary.
More pistachio doesn't mean better.
If you are lucky if you can find warm/hot one that is served just after baked
It is a desert so eat it after meal and don't eat too much :)
